VIDEO: Saidyokub Kakharamonov looks to claim gold at CFFC 92
Saidyokub Kakharamonov’s patience paid off as the 25-year-old is set to face Tycen Lynn for the vacant bantamweight title at CFFC 92 on March 11. It will be more than a year when the Team Oyama product steps into the cage, but he wanted to make sure his next fight was the right matchup.
“(I didn’t have any) injuries, I just couldn’t get a match up,” Kakharamonov told The Scrap ” I wanted a big fight, a good opportunity, like a good arena to fight. And at the same time, I’m not rushing into anything. You know, I’m just I’m trying to get better at fighting learning. You’re trying to get stronger, you know, just trying to improve overall.”
Kakharamonov (7-2) hasn’t fought since a 39-second TKO victory over Askar Askar at HFC 42 in February 2020. During his time on the sidelines, Kakharamonov has had a chance to settle in with his coaches and training partners at Team Oyama after moving from Illinois last fall.
“I’ve been a team, Oyama for the last six, seven months in Irvine, California,” Kakharamonov said. “I made a transition here because when the pandemic hit, Illinois was closed. gyms are closed. And now obviously here, I mean, we had some restrictions but the coach always finds a way to grind. I’ve been training with some pretty good guys and a lot of them, you know?”
His opponent Lynn (8-4) heads into this championship showdown off back-to-back submission victories. Three of the 33-year-old’s four losses have come against current UFC fighters Sean O’Malley, Journey Newson and Louis Smolka.
Kakharamonov wants to make quick work of his opponent in hopes of a UFC contract.
“”I mean, just go out there fight whatever comes my way,” Kakharamonov said. “I mean, I’m looking for a short night I don’t want to be in there for too long. The UFC, all these people, they want to see finishes, they don’t want to see us going to a decision. I’ve been training, improving, doing new things. Working with high-level guys. Getting my ass whooped everyday.”
CFFC 92 takes place March 11 at 2300 Arena in Phildelphia, Pennsylvania.
