Guide to the Prelims: UFC 250
UFC 250 is shaping out to be another huge card for the UFC.
The event will be held in the UFC Apex on Saturday, June 6th. UFC 250 has a crazy main card as many PPVs do, but the prelims are just as stacked with talent.
For a clue on what fights you should tune into before the main card, ready The Scrap’s guide to the prelims:
Jussier Formiga (#4) vs. Alex Perez (#9) – flyweight
The UFC likes to put these top ranked flyweights on the prelims on PPV cards. I do not fully understand, because these fights never disappoint. Formiga is on a 2-fight skid right now, but do not discredit his talent level. He lost to two of the top fighters in the division, and is never too far from a championship opportunity.
Perez is a product of Contender Series, and has a huge opportunity to jump in the rankings. Since arriving to the UFC in 2017, he only has one loss, and that is to Joseph Benavidez.
Cody Stamann (#12 BW) vs. Brian Kelleher – Featherweight
Stamann has made a name for himself in the bantamweight division, but he makes the jump to 145lbs for this fight. After a draw in his last fight, Stamann should be looking for a finish. All of his wins in the UFC have come from decisions, maybe the jump up in weight makes a difference.
Kelleher returns after just 2 weeks off, for his third fight in 2020. He is dangerous everywhere, and has bounced back strong in 2020 after not fighting in 2019.
Chase Hooper vs. Alex Caceres (Featherweight)
Hooper has been touted as a prodigy in this sport. He definitely has some incredible skills on the ground. He is young and long for his division, and has a lot of potential and a bright future. His glaring issue is his chin. Hooper is a 20 year old kid, taking hits from fully grown men. But once the fight his the ground, it does not usually last much longer for his opponent.
Caceres has an incredible stand up game. He has show-stopping kicks, but has not found consistency in the UFC. He is nearly a 10 year vet of the UFC, so the TUF 12 fighter is doing something right.
Alonzo Menifield vs. Devin Clark (Light Heavyweight)
Menifield is another fighter that found his way into the UFC through Contender Series. Undefeated as a pro, and as an amateur, Menifield is a winner. He is built like a truck, and hits even harder. He separates his opponent from consciousness, it almost hurts to watch.
Clark has been in the UFC since 2016, but has had difficulty stringing together consecutive wins. He has faced some of the divisions elite in the UFC.
