Everyone is welcome to be part of Eddie Wineland’s ‘Mustache Mafia’

Anyone that knows UFC bantamweight Eddie Wineland (24-13-1) is aware of his iconic handlebar mustache.
The 35-year-old told The Scrap that he originally grew a mustache because his father had “an upper lip lounge that’s older than I am. One day I just decided I was going to let it grow.”
The idea for the “Mustache Mafia” began about eight years ago. “I had a buddy of mine make up some shirts just as a joke and eventually got tired of fighting with my mustache and food,” Wineland shared, “I refused to trim the middle of the mustache so it was constantly a mess but if you’re growing a mustache you’re either all in or you’re out.”
In February 2019 Wineland took the idea a little more seriously. He applied for a trademark and got it “so now it’s here to stay,” he said, “Everyone is welcome to be a part of the ‘Mustache Mafia’. You don’t necessarily need to own a lip luchador, but supporting the muzzle fuzz and testosterone-fueled activities are the only requirements. It doesn’t even require you to be a man, if you’re a woman and enjoy the outdoors, hunting, fishing, not being a Barbie doll, supporting men doing man things, then it’s all good.”
Wineland said he’s always been involved in manly pursuits. “I’ve wrestled all my life, helped my dad build cars, worked with tools, and built stuff.” The Indiana resident added that his belief behind the “Mustache Mafia” is to own being a man. “Get your hands dirty and grease under your fingernails, get calluses from hard work. Man up and handle your business like a man!”
The fighter promotes his cause on Instagram on officialmustachemafia and an official website is yet to come. Items available for purchase include shirts, coffee cups, and women’s panties.
