Grant Dawson recaps submission win at UFC Norfolk, calls for fight with Darren Elikins
It was a long, bumpy road to get to UFC Norfolk for Grant Dawson, but in the end, he walked out of the Chartway Arena with a win.
“The Prophet” submitted Octagon debutante Darrick Minner in the second round of the featherweight contest and improved his record to 3-0 in the UFC. Unfortunately, Dawson forfeited 30 percent of his purse to Minner after missing weight on Friday.
On Monday, Dawson joined The Scrap to discuss the road to get to the fight, getting pulled from his scheduled UFC 246 bout with Chas Skelly days before the fight, dealing with the NSAC, having no excuses for missing weight, getting a new opponent on less than two weeks notice after Skelly was forced to withdraw from the rescheduled bout due to injury, if there was “bad blood” with Minner as the broadcast stated, why he graded his performance a six out of 10, wanting to fight Darren Elkins, Megan Anderson’s improvements, his coach James Krause being “a gangster”, and more.
