Sean O’Malley reaches settlement with NASC, cleared to fight at UFC 248
Sean O’Malley’s UFC career has been a frustrating story to say the least.
He debuted on season 1 of Dana White’s Contender Series, and won his first two fights in the UFC. However, his career did not get a chance to really get started.
O’Malley was initially suspended by USADA in 2018 for ostarine, and was pulled from UFC 229. He accepted a reduced sentence in that case, but a subsequent positive test resulted in the cancellation of his 239 bout.
O’Malley reached a settlement with the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Wednesday. His punishment includes a nine-month suspension retroactive to July of last year. As a result, he has been cleared to compete at UFC 248 on March 7th.
“Suga” will go through rigorous testing leading to the event. He must provide clean drug test 30, 15, and three days prior to the event. The 25 year-old bantamweight is 10-0 as a professional and has not fought since March 2018.
UFC 248 takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada and will be headlined by a middleweight title fight between Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero.
