Edmen Shahbazyan vs. Derek Brunson set for UFC 248
22-year old prospect Edmen Shahbazyan is set for a crucial middleweight fight with Derek Brunson.
Confirmed by Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie, the two will fight at UFC 248 on March 7th, which is now headlined by Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero.
Shahbazyan is considered by many to be one of the best middleweights in the UFC. He will look to climb the rankings against Derek Brunson come fight night. Currently ranked 9th in the division, Shahbazyan is undefeated (11-0 as a pro, 4-0 in the UFC), and has finished 3 out of 4 of his fights in the UFC.
“The Golden Boy” is coming off a head kick knockout against Brad Tavares in November. On the other side, Brunson is coming off a decision win against Ian Heinisch in August. Ranked 8th in the division, Derek looks to derail another hype train and continue his win streak.
