The Scrap’s 2019 Pro Wrestling Card of the Year — NXT TakeOver: War Games
2019 had a year of amazing wrestling cards like, Double or Nothing, NXT TakeOver: New York, Wrestle Kingdom 13, and many more.
But a PPV that stood tall against all others was NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2019. This show’s card was:
Pre-show: Angel Garza def. Isiah Scott.
This was a great bout for both men and in the short time they had available, they were able to perform a really good match and got the show starting on the best way possible.
Team Ripley (Rhea Ripley, Dakota Kai, Tegan Nox & Candice LeRae) def. Team Baszler (Shayna Baszler, Io Shirai, Kay Lee Ray & Bianca Belair) in a WarGames match.
This was the match of the night, the women in this match were great, from the awesome heel turn of Dakota Kai to the star-making performance from Rhea Ripley.
Truly one of the best matches of 2019.
Pete Dunne def. Damien Priest & Killian Dain.
This match was solid and had the bad luck of following the best match of the night. The only negative this match had is that it went 5 minutes too long.
Finn Balor def. Matt Riddle.
A great show match for the return of Finn Balor to NXT. Matt Riddle had an outstanding performance as well. Overall is was a good match with the right result.
Keith Lee, Tommaso Ciampa, Kevin Owens & Dominik Dijakovic def. Undisputed Era in a War Games match.
This was the second-best match of the night. This bout saw the surprise return of Kevin Owens to NXT and the star making performance from Keith Lee. Overall a great match.
It was a tough decision, but TakeOver: War Games was the Pro Wrestling Card of the Year and we’re honored to announce it as our award’s inaugural winner!
