VIDEO: Michael Stack fought with broken fibula in LFA 79 submission win
Michael Stack’s opening round submission win at last month’s LFA 79 was deemed impressive enough to get a replay prior to the main event on UFC Fight Pass. If the organization was aware of everything the unbeaten 25-year-old prospect went through to get to that fight, they would’ve probably been blown away.
Stack opened up in an interview with The Scrap about what he had to deal with in preparation for the victory over Brian Mitchell at LFA 79 — which was originally scheduled to take place a month prior before the event was postponed. Stack would suffer a leg injury, which would turn out to be a broken fibula after further tests. Stack would work through the injury, overcoming adversity to eventually be cleared to compete and improve his record to 4-0.
The Colorado based featherweight discussed the win, the injury and how he was able to compete, how he turned to his faith to get the answer he was looking for, impressing the LFA brass which will lead to more fights with the promotion in 2020, a possible Contender Series slot next summer, his thoughts on the UFC 245 featherweight title fight between Max Holloway and Alex Volkanovski, training with Volkanovski at Tiger Muai Thai in the past, and much more.
