AJ Agazarm wants to welcome Jordan Burroughs to MMA: ‘Take a fight at least before runnin’ your mouth’
Jordan Burroughs is always the talk of the town when it comes to the sport of amateur wrestling, but lately, he’s been the flavor of the month in an entirely different sport. One he doesn’t even compete in.
It all started with Burroughs and Chael Sonnen going back and forth over Burroughs’ worth if he were to move to MMA. That set off a series of events that led to several fighters stating they would take the Burroughs fight if offered. One of the more notable names was BJJ Champion, AJ Agazarm.
If you only know Agazarm from his Bellator career, you don’t think much of him. But he is actually an accomplished grappler, a BJJ blackbelt, collegiate wrestler, and NOGI BJJ World Champion. He is also a Twitter user, and that was the platform he used to issue the callout, while also managing to take a swipe at Ben Askren, all in one Tweet!
Hey bud –
I’m with ya on the whole Asskren thing, but take a fight at least before runnin’ your mouth
This isn’t wrestling.
If y’muster up the courage and wanna give it a shot, call up the @BellatorMMA crew. Best in the biz. Tell em you want your reality check from me.

You have to wonder if that Askren misspelling was on purpose. But aside from that, it’s obvious that Agazarm is trying to attach his name to what would likely be a big fight simply because of Burroughs’ involvement. He is only 0-1 so he doesn’t have such a huge experience advantage over Burroughs, plus it’s a matchup between two highly accomplished grapplers. One is a BJJ NOGI Champion, and the other is a multiple time World Champion and Olympic Gold medalist in wrestling, but both are decorated none the less.
With that being said, enjoy thinking about this fight if it interests you because it’s unlikely to become a reality. Burroughs isn’t even a MMA fighter and has stated his intentions for the 2020 Olympics. He has left the door open for an MMA run in the future.
