UFC, Dana White unveil new Legacy Championship Belt for ESPN+ debut

With a new era, comes a new belt.
The UFC Classic Championship Belt, which was used from 2001 to 2018 has received a facelift. Dana White has unveiled the newest championship belt with the design including a plate to the left of the central UFC logo, customized for the champion’s name and weight class, as well as a smaller plate with the flag of their country of origin. The left plate will be surrounded by stones which will be replaced with a red stone for each championship victory, signaling the days of piling up new belts after every defense are over.
The first Legacy belt will be handed to the winner of Saturday’s flyweight championship main event between defending titleholder Henry Cejudo and the current bantamweight champion, TJ Dillashaw. None of the defenses or victories prior to 2019 will be engraved or noted on the new belts and the women’s belts will be slightly smaller for various reasons.
Eight countries that produced UFC champions will be represented on the Legacy belt, with flags from the USA, Canada, Brazil, the Netherlands, Poland, Belarus, the UK, and Ireland, on the front plate.

SPECIAL FEATURES
Each belt comes with a plate on the backside with a unique serial number assigned to the specific champion. UFC President Dana White’s engraved signature is also included for authenticity.
