Gunther vs. Jey Uso

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event XXXVIII Predictions

Read Time:5 Minute, 7 Second

From the branding to the storytelling, WWE’s reintroduction to Saturday Night’s Main Event was a massive success at the end of 2024. This weekend, they return with the second edition as the company aims to start 2025 with a bang. WWE will head to San Antonio, Texas, with the hopes of capturing the same excitement they received in December.

Check out the predictions for Saturday Night’s Main Event XXXVIII:

World Heavyweight Championship

Gunther (C) vs. Jey Uso

Gunther looks to extend his reign of dominance into WrestleMania season as the top champion on Monday Night Raw. ‘Main Event’ Jey Uso looks to further extend his family’s list of accolades with a world championship victory. Can Jey prove Gunther wrong after ‘The Ring General’ labeled him as just a tag team wrestler? This is a fun matchup no doubt. But, there’s nobody that actually believes Jey Uso will become the World Heavyweight Champion here. Gunther’s hard hitting style will likely take a toll on Jey, who will make his comeback late into the match. Uso will be seconds away from securing the victory until he is halted by Drew McIntyre. The Scottish Warrior will exact his revenge following the January 6th surprise loss to Jey on Monday Night Raw. On his quest to annihilate any remnants of the Roman Reigns Bloodline, Drew McIntyre will make sure Jey does not get his hands on the world title.

Official Prediction: Gunther via Interference

Intercontinental Championship

Bron Breakker (C) vs. Sheamus

After a victory over Ludwig Kaiser in a #1-contender’s match, Sheamus has earned another crack at Bron Breakker’s Intercontinental Championship. When you consider the physical style of both men, this could be a match you turn the volume down on your TV. Make no mistake, these two savages will beat each other down from bell to bell with a smile on their faces. Breakker is coming into the prime of his career, while Sheamus is closer to the end of his own. That being said, ‘The Celtic Warrior’ still brings it on a nightly basis. So, Bron is definitely gonna have to dig deep here. Additionally, WWE may not want every championship successfully defended on Saturday, therefore I can’t rule out an upset. The three-man story is seemingly over and so I do not see Kaiser making any interference in this one. Instead, I believe Bron Breakker further cements himself with a clean victory over a savvy veteran. The only question after this match: Who will be next for Breakker?

Official Prediction: Bron Breakker via Pinfall

Women’s World Championship

Rhea Ripley vs. Nia Jax

What started as a brief run-in on Monday Night Raw has now evolved into a feud between the two most dominant women on the roster. Hate to play spoiler… But much like the men’s World Championship match, there is no way we see a title change here. Ripley is far from a transitional champion. So, you have to think she will be holding the title heading into WrestleMania yet again. This is nothing more than a brief excursion before the Royal Rumble, as it is with most matches on the card. Their January 20th brawl on Monday Night Raw is only a foreshadowing of the physical matchup we will see on Saturday. There is nobody that can manhandle Rhea quite like Nia, and that should be on full display in this match. Rhea’s toughness will keep her in it despite Nia’s overpowering offensive attacks. The moment Mami finds an opening, she will take over and end it with a devastating riptide.

Official Prediction: Rhea Ripley via Pinfall

Braun Strowman vs. Jacob Fatu

It seems like every match that gets added to this card gets more and more violent. This will easily be the biggest singles match in the early WWE career of Jacob Fatu. Following Braun’s save of LA Knight from The Bloodline on SmackDown, we saw a preview of what’s to come. While Fatu did not back down from Strowman, it was Tama Tonga who would pull his stablemate out of the ring. This sets up a must-see matchup between two monsters on Saturday. There’s no doubt that Jacob Fatu needs this victory so much more than Braun Strowman. Braun is already an established former world champion while Jacob looks to become a household name in the WWE. For that reason, you have to think that Jacob Fatu will get his hand raised. But not without being met with much resistance. I would say Fatu wins clean… But, it seems like he’s come back to earth after initially being booked as indestructible. It will almost certainly take the usual interference from The Bloodline for ‘The Samoan Werewolf’ to get the victory. I predict we see Tama Tonga save Fatu once again with a late match interference.

Official Prediction: Jacob Fatu wins via Interference

Royal Rumble Contract Signing

Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens

Despite this not being a match, we know what’s happening. Kevin Owens is going to further antagonize Cody Rhodes, and Cody will almost certainly look to attack him. As Cody said himself, it is absolutely “on sight” anytime he sees Kevin Owens in any setting. Hopefully Shawn Michaels can ease the tensions as he will be the moderator for the contract signing. Expect Owens to appear with the gorgeous winged eagle championship belt, and words that cut deeper than anyone in the industry. I hope the Undisputed Champion can keep his emotions intact. But, there’s no way that happens now after Cody has just been medically cleared. These two will give us a Royal Rumble preview come Saturday night. Since they do not have an actual match, I would have to pick Cody as an early favorite for their match at the Royal Rumble. Rhodes is the quarterback of the new era… It is almost impossible to see him dropping the championship so close to WrestleMania. Rhodes will make Owens pay for the pile drivers delivered to not only himself, but his mentor Randy Orton.
