Jake Paul

Will Jake Paul be forced to fight MMA Fighters again?

Read Time:1 Minute, 53 Second

Over the last year or so, we have seen the highly polarizing Jake Paul take a step back in relevance. Why? Simple. According to him, he has decided to follow the more traditional boxing route based on evidence from his last two fights. The last couple of bouts for the “Problem Child” have been against the likes of Andre August and Ryan Bourland. What do these two opponents have in common? Well, they’re both traditional boxers and not famous MMA fighters.

Less Eyes on Jake Paul

MMA has taken the combat sports world by storm in the last quarter decade. It is the fastest-rising sport of all time, at least by the numbers. So when Jake said he would be fighting “real boxers” from here on, you could’ve guessed the eyeballs on him would severely diminish. But to this extent? Not many saw that coming…

In the lead-up to his last two bouts with Bourland and August, the promo has been lacking. If you’re not paying close attention, you may have had no clue Jake Paul was fighting. Apparently, many others have had similar experiences as the number of tweets saying, “Jake fights this Saturday?” were quite abundant. That is to be expected when you go from fighting some of the most famous MMA fighters on the planet to fairly unknown boxers. But that is what Jake wanted, and that is exactly what the 8-1 boxer is getting.

Back to MMA Fighters?

Now, despite everything said, something interesting seems to be playing out that hints at he perhaps may be returning to his old ways. In the last couple of months, Jake Paul and Sean Strickland have engaged in a war of words regarding a potential fight between the two. Now while Strickland is fully locked into a UFC contract, that has not stopped Paul from entertaining these improbable fights in the past. Perhaps Jake has quickly grown tired of the lack of spotlight? Perhaps he desperately wants to get in the ring with these big MMA names again? Only time will tell, but it is certainly a fun conversation to have in the meantime.

Should Jake Paul go back to fighting big names in MMA? Let us know in the comments.
