Is CM Punk a Ticking Time Bomb?

The return of CM Punk in WWE was a moment that many will remember. For years, people thought it would be impossible. Especially when you consider the lawsuit, the way Punk was fired from the company, and his relationship with management like Paul Levesque.

Just like HHH said, “hell froze over”, and now Punk is back in WWE.

The Path to the Return

CM Punk is an interesting wrestler. For many years, people fantasy booked a potential return to WWE and later a possible run in AEW. Life is funny because both things actually took place. Punk knows how to captivate the attention of fans… He will always be a focal talking point in pro wrestling, for better or worse.

Punk’s return to WWE opens up discussions about him, his attitude, his run in AEW, and obviously what to expect this time around. His departure from AEW came after controversial circumstances to say the least. It was just a matter of time considering the events after the Brawl Out with The Elite. Punk and AEW felt like a match made in heaven, but it wasn’t meant to be. AEW gave CM Punk his own show where he had say in almost everything. But at the end of the day, it was not enough.

After the Brawl Out, the Jack Perry situation at All In, and other things we don’t know about, CM Punk’s time in AEW came to an end. It was a nice run, but people will always remember this as a missed opportunity from both sides.

A Ticking Timebomb?

CM Punk returning to WWE creates a lot of interesting paths for him and also opens up speculation regarding his attitude. Is Punk a ticking time bomb? In short… Yes and no, for now. He knows he has a short leash in WWE. The roster and management are paying close attention to everything he does. Punk will have to be on his best behavior if he wishes to stay for however long he has left in his career.

Punk can now finally make his dream of main eventing WrestleMania come true. He is a few months away of doing so, if he plays his cards right. This motivation will help him control his worst instincts, but the man can be unpredictable at times. There are also things to consider that might cause trouble if not handled correctly. For example, wrestling the Saudi Arabia shows. It’s no secret that Punk is very vocal of social issues, which causes troubles between both sides. We currently don’t know if he will participate and be booked on those shows. Many expect him to be, but this could cause tensions if Punk speaks out.

For now, he is on his best behavior and hopefully he can have a successful run in WWE before calling it a career. Punk has one last chance, and the clock is now ticking. Is the CM Punk time bomb also ticking? He has the trigger and only time will tell if he can play ball, or if things will explode once more.
