Ben ‘The Bane’ Davis vs. Gabriel Silva announced for Misfits 009

No, this headline is not clickbait. The Scrap’s very own Ben Davis will be making his professional Boxing debut against Anderson Silva’s son on the undercard of the stacked Misfits 009 card.
Misfit Boxing announced the full card earlier today on their social media platforms which saw the infamous Ben “The Bane” Davis featured front and center next to Gabriel Silva. What may seem like a mismatch to some, Davis vs. Silva is set to have all eyes on them in a matchup that could be much closer than some think.
The last time we saw Davis in competition was when he stepped up to grapple CFFC President Brad Boulton at Fury Pro Grappling 7. It took Brad only 13 seconds to lock in a Straight Ankle Lock, handing Davis his first official loss on Tapology.
Silva is currently 1-0 as a pro and has only been fighting since 2019. In his last fight, he fought an 0-6 opponent which seems to be a common theme in the world of Boxing with promising prospects. Prior to turning pro, Silva had a short amateur run which ended with him getting knocked out in the first-round in under two minutes.
The People’s Main Event
One thing about Bane, he’s going to market the hell out of himself. Since the announcement, social media has been buzzing in excitement for him. Not only has he been all over the regional scene commentating fights, he’s been working for big promotions like Karate Combat, and even covering the PFL Playoffs for The Scrap in New York. Ben is everywhere, always. He’s a true workhorse in the combat sports media space.
As for Silva, being the son of a MMA legend is no small feat, especially when you consider the shoes he needs to fill. Even though Gabriel chose a different sport than his father and is early on in his career, he has greatness in his blood. But it’s always dangerous fighting someone who has nothing to lose. Silva will certainly have his hands full with Davis come September.
X Series 009 will take place in Newcastle, England on September 23. The card is set be headlined by Idris Virgo vs. Aaron Chalmers and will be streamed live on DAZN.
