Almighty FC 22: Results & Talking Points

Read Time:2 Minute, 45 Second

Almighty Fighting Championship kick-started their 2022 schedule as everybody expected, with a bang. The night featured some excellent scraps from some of the hottest talents in the UK and Europe.

The tone was set straight from the opening bouts at Almighty FC 22 when Joel Storey was put to sleep by Higher Level MMA young-gun Paull Lally, who latched on to a nasty guillotine and squeezed like his life depended on it. Lally, who competed for the first time in MMA, made a massive claim for the Almighty FC £300 performance bonus. If he gets it or not, it remains to be seen.

Shortly after, another Scottish prospect made the walk for the first time as an amateur and delivered a stunning TKO victory. Dylan Cuthbert, fighting out of Force Fitness Ayr, met Amaan Qayyum and the two featherweights traded in the centre, resulting in a double knockdown. Cuthbert quickly scrambled back to his feet, hit the reset button, and landed a crisp shot on his opponent’s jaw, which resulted in the referee stopping the contest.

The UK MMA community was highly excited for the return of touted prospect Liam McCracken who made his professional MMA debut after two years on the sidelines.

McCracken made short work of Frenchman Matthieu Moya after mixing his skill-set up beautifully in the first round. The Liverpool native was one step ahead of his opponent the entire time, eventually forcing the referee to stop the contest.

The co-main event featured one of the most significant regional fights that have occurred in a long time. After a back and forth slugfest, Mantas Kondratavičius and Jack Comby had the Rainton Arean on their feet.

From the opening bell, both fighters went toe-to-toe, trading heavy shots in the centre of the Octagon. Eventually, after two action-packed rounds, Jack Comby fell to the onslaught of Kondratavičius, who travelled back to Lithuania with his first professional win.

The flyweight title was up for grabs in the main event, which saw Shaj Haque stop Poland’s Igor Wojtas after four rounds gruelling back and forth. Haque was the superior man on the night, keeping the same pace and output throughout. Igor Wojtas didn’t get the victory he had hoped for but did give a great showing off himself.
