Daniel Weichel discusses Bellator 270 bout in Ireland
Daniel Weichel clashes with Pedro Carvalho at Bellator 270. This prizefight goes down on Friday, November 5th from 3Arena Dublin in Dublin, Ireland, and broadcasts on Showtime.
Weichel has contended for the Bellator MMA featherweight world championship on multiple occasions. He has been a promotional stalwart for close to eight years and prior to that competed on several noteworthy circuits (M1 Challenge, BAMMA, KOTC, Cage Warriors, etc).
As of this November 3rd writing, Weichel is presently ranked number six within Bellator’s 145-pound hierarchy. He has over fifty professional mixed martial arts bouts to his credit. His opponent later this week is a SBG Ireland product who has also contended for a Bellator world championship at 145 lbs.
Pedro Carvalho will have the partisan crowd supporting him as the raucous audience aims to cheer their guy onward to a return to the win column. Now riding back-to-back defeats leading into this bout after initially carving out a 4-0 record under the promotional banner previously.
Carvalho is number seven among the Bellator featherweights as of this writing. So it makes perfect sense to test skills with the warrior presently sitting one spot above him. In the wake of the featherweight world grand prix and the crowning of a new world champion, the victor of Weichel versus Carvalho positions themselves well in the contendership queue for 2022.
I spoke with Weichel at the Bellator MMA pre-fight media day virtually on Zoom. The excerpt from our interaction is below.
Daniel Weichel
Carvalho only having been submitted once and the importance for Weichel notch that 23rd career submission:
Weichel stated, “Yeah, I always try to look for the finish and definitely this one too. You know, it’s important for me to perform at my best. When I see the opening for the finish, I will go for it. 100%.”
