The Scrap’s 2020 Ring Announcer on the Rise: Kody ‘Big Mo’ Mommaerts
In 2020, regional promotions weren’t able to host as many shows. Luckily for fighters, Jeff Cisneros and Sparta Combat Sports & Entertainment were able to host shows in Wyoming for all of 2020.
With Sparta shows able to go on, so did the spotlight and it was all on Kody Mommaerts aka “Big Mo”, our first-ever back-to-back winner and 2020 Ring Announcer on the Rise.
Honorable Mentions: Mike Kendall, Hywel Chaplin and Dr. David Sarnoff.
Mommaerts is a former D1 Football Player turned ring announcer and has a larger than life personality. He brings life to any fight card he’s on, regardless of how large or small the crowd is. His swagger is evident and he has the voice you’d expect from a quality ring announcer.
He’s also still the youngest in the game currently.

Last year, Sparta was able to put on their biggest show in the history of the company. Sparta Wyoming 4: Leduc vs Washington 2 could have easily been a contender for Regional Card of the Year due to the main event alone. With all the eyes on Dave Leduc, all eyes were on Sparta Combat that night.
There is no doubt that Kody is the next big thing for announcers in combat sports. He’s a name you’ll likely continue to hear rising the ranks of announcers in the coming years and we’re excited to feature him yet again in our End of the Year Awards.
