The Scrap’s 2020 Indie Wrestler to Watch: Chris Bey
Independent wrestling has never been as strong as it is currently. All across the board, companies have never been as successful and wrestling has never been so good. While we often look back at the glory days of people like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Bryan Danielson, and CM Punk, in many ways we are living in a renaissance of wrestling.
Out of all of the amazing wrestling and wrestlers capturing our attention, one stands out above them all.
Chris Bey is The Scrap’s 2020 Indie Wrestler to Watch.
Honrable Mentions: Jacob Fatu, Lio Rush and Willie Mack.
For the first time in recent memory, IMPACT Wrestling has been the talk of the wrestling community for positive reasons. The relationship with All Elite Wrestling has brought IMPACT much-deserved attention. One person who definitely does not get the attention he deserves has been Chris Bey.
Bey has arguably been the flag bearer of the X-Division since joining the company only officially joining in February of 2020. While he has not always been on top in terms of storyline, he has been a consistent performer in the division and helped elevate it. In fact, after losing his X-Division Championship, he even took on IMPACT World Champion, Rich Swann.
The Independent Wrestler to Watch does not necessarily mean best independent wrestler, although you could make the argument. It’s a wrestler who does not have a lot of eyes on him, but should. Looking at independent wrestlers who deserve more than the attention they’re getting, Chris Bey is the clear top of that list.
