The Scrap’s 2019 Interview of the Year: Calvin Kattar & Joel Torres
Although 2019 was our first year as a news source, we were able to interview so many UFC fighters, WWE Wrestlers, Bellator & PFL prospects, and tons of regional fighters making noise.
With the many submissions, one interview stood out most from the pack. That was Joel Torres and Calvin Kattar’s interview following his big win over Ricardo Lamas at UFC 238.
Both Torres & Kattar are New England natives and maybe it was that connection that lead to this interview being the best of the year. They spoke about what’s next for Kattar, wanting to headline the 2019 UFC Boston card, bringing a UFC title back to New England, influencing the next generation of fighters, and putting New England MMA on the map.
@CalvinKattar on potentially headlining UFC Boston in the Fall: “I’m going to talk a whole bunch of shit during, before and after, to get my opportunity to headline a TD Garden card.”
— J. Torres (@joeygamebred) June 18, 2019
The interview led to Joel meeting both Calvin and Rob Font at UFC International Fight week over the summer.
One thing is for sure, Calvin Kattar is on a mission to bring back UFC gold to New England and we can’t more excited to watch the journey happen.
Congratulations to Joel Torres and Calvin Kattar for winning the 2019 Interview of the Year!
