The Scrap’s 2019 International Fighter to Watch: Petr Yan
International fighter awards can have wonky definitions since anyone can be considered international depending on where you’re from.
However, for this award, we kept it to fighters who had success in 2019 outside of their home countries.
Petr “No Mercy” Yan is a Russian professional mixed martial artist in the UFC’s bantamweight division. The 26-year-old had a total of three wins in 2019 and boasts a professional record of 14-1-0.
Yan started off his banner year in February with a decision win against John “The Magician” Dodson at UFC on ESPN +3 in Prague, Czech Republic.
The Tiger Muay Thai athlete managed to pull off another unanimous decision win against Jimmie “El Terror” Rivera at UFC 238 in June. Yan capped off his unbeatable year in December by taking out Urijah Faber at UFC 245 via head kick in Round 3.
“No Mercy” has great striking and footwork skills. He uses lots of elbows and knees in his game. Yan has been impressive throughout his UFC career and is currently ranked as the #4 bantamweight fighter in the UFC.
Congratulations to Petr Yan on being named the 2019 International Fighter to Watch!
