The Scrap’s 2019 Indie Wrestler to Watch: David Starr

Read Time:1 Minute, 18 Second

2019 was a big year for the independent wrestling scene, from Progress, to Evolve, to the inception and rise of All Elite Wrestling.

There were a lot of indie wrestlers coming out of the year that fans should keep an eye on. Such as stars like Sami Callihan, Tessa Blanchard, Marty Scurll, and even people new to wrestling such as Ladies of the Indies Alumni, Mariah May.

However, if we had to pick one indie star for you to watch going into 2020, it is David Starr.

Starr had a big year, and showcased that he is criminally underrated. He retained his RevPro British Cruiserweight Championship for exactly one year, from May 11th, 2018 until May 11th, 2019. On top of this, he wrestled PAC in Defiant Wrestling, and won their World Championship in November of 2019.

David also won arguably the best tournament in wrestling, the Super Strong Style Tournament in Progress. He added even more gold to his list of accomplishments, beating Jordan Devlin for the OTT World Championship in Dublin.

2019 was also a year of controversy for Starr. Prior to a ROH World Championship match, he released a video scorching the company, that he was ordered to delete. Whether it was in the ring, on the mic, or behind the camera, David Starr got people talking about him in 2019.

If you don’t already know about him and his ability in every aspect of professional wrestling, keep an eye on him in 2020.

Congratulations to David Starr, our Indie Wrestler to Watch!
